At Paterson of Oldmeldrum, we've had the privilege of creating bespoke cabinetry for a variety of clients. One of our most recent and memorable projects was the design and construction of a unique cabinet to house The Macallan 81 Year Old "The Reach" at Meldrum House Country Hotel & Golf Course. This incredibly rare and valuable single malt scotch whisky deserved a display that was as exceptional as the spirit itself.
When approached to create a cabinet for the Macallan 81 Year Old, we knew we were facing a unique and challenging task. The whisky's rich history, exceptional value, and the fact that it would be stored in Meldrum House's historic 800-year-old cave bar demanded a design that was both visually stunning and functionally sound. We needed to create a piece that would not only protect the valuable bottle but also enhance its display in such a historic setting.
Our design team carefully considered the whisky's characteristics and the overall aesthetic of Meldrum House's cave bar. We wanted to create a cabinet that would seamlessly blend into the historic setting while also drawing attention to the incredible bottle within. After extensive planning, we settled on a design that incorporated elements of traditional Scottish craftsmanship with a modern twist.
The construction of the cabinet was a meticulous process that required the highest level of skill and precision. Our craftsmen used the finest materials, including burr elm, to create a piece that was both durable and visually appealing. The cabinet was designed to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing, with features such as a secure locking mechanism and a glass panel that allowed the whisky to be admired from all angles.
The finished cabinet is a testament to our team's skill and dedication. It perfectly complements the Macallan 81 Year Old "The Reach," creating a visually stunning and fitting display. We are incredibly proud of the work that went into this project and are honoured to have been a part of such a unique and prestigious commission.
